Tales of Sceon
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT HALF-BEASTS: Since half-beasts are not accepted as fully fledged members of society, they will most likely have difficulty in social situations (ex. being shunned by townsfolk, being refused service at shops). I advise you to take special consideration when selecting this race.
Also, this race has not been playtested, so (as with every aspect of the game) the DM reserves the right to make adjustments to the race at any time he sees fit. If a player using this race is unhappy with the change, they will be allowed to switch to a different race.
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1, and your Strength or Dexterity score increases by 2.
Age. Half-beasts have life spans comparable to humans.
Size. Half-beast sizes are influenced by their Animal Origin. Males are usually between 5’5 and 6’5 and weigh 140-250 lbs. while females are generally between 4’8 and 5’9 and weigh 90-180 lbs. Your size is medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Since half-beasts are part human or elf, they do not have a unique language of their own and use Common as their primary language. A half-beast birthed by an elf may adopt Elvish as their primary language, although it is likely that they would also be fluent in Common as well.
Animal Origin. All half-beasts have an animal that they are associated with. Choose one animal to associate your half-beast with. You gain one physical feature from the animal you chose. For example, if you chose a wolf, you could have wolf ears as a physical feature. This choice is permanent and influences a number of your character’s attributes for roleplay purposes, but not for statistical purposes.
Feral Senses. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Survival of the Fittest. When you are reduced to 0 health, but not outright killed, you can be reduced to 1 health instead. You cannot use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
Full-On Beast Mode. When under tremendous amounts of stress, half-beasts can take on a more animalistic appearance based on their animal origin while still retaining a humanoid form. Choose a Full On Beast Mode form: Power, Defense or Speed (details are listed below). This choice is permanent and cannot be changed. As a bonus action you can transform into Full On Beast Mode and gain benefits based on your form. The transformation lasts for one minute and cannot be cancelled otherwise. You can only use this feature once per long rest. At 3rd level you can use it twice, 4 times at 10th level, 5 at 15th and unlimited at 20th.
